woodchucks

so that you may better understand how little it takes to amuse me...

i love this.

it reminds me of the classic kicks i purchased in seventh grade...

my dad called them my 'ronald mcdonalds.'

(this was only slightly less amusing to me than when he later dubbed my birkenstocks 'barney rubbles.')

i remember wearing them with the tops folded down and various styles of scrunchy socks.

in retrospect i realize that the feeling of coolness i experienced was exponentially higher than my actual coolness quotient.

but that mattered not, for i loved my chucks.

is there an adored bit of footwear in your history that inspired such feelings?

do tell.

oh yes. chunky black combat boots! they were so cool when i was in ninth grade, when the grunge look was popular and 'my so-called life' was on tv. ahh, the mid-nineties.. i thought i was something in those boots!

jackiebean...ah yes, i had those boots during my freshman year in college. i often paired them with a red plaid schoolgirl skirt, a black turtleneck, and lots of liquid black eyeliner. :P

I so get this! "in retrospect i realize that the feeling of coolness i experienced was exponentially higher than my actual coolness quotient." Hysterical.

I, with my huge feet, sadly do not have a particular shoe memory. I did have Doc Martens once. Not those great combat boots, though--the oxfords. I don't even think they were cool. I was always way behind the Cool Curve and I've only slightly caught up as an adult. :)

I had some chuck taylor green lowtops in high school. I was constantly drawing and doodling random stuff on them . . . ah. The memories. I'm sure I wasn't nearly as cool as I felt doing all that, but I'm ok with that. ;)

skooks...i always felt that people who drew on their chucks were extra cool.
