my burning man campmates gathered together on sunday for an event known as decompression. we wandered all over the city on foot, a merry troupe of travelers basking in a classic san francisco fall day...

when i wander about on adventures, i observe and fall in love with beautiful moments everywhere. my photographs are sentimental letters written about those moments. here are just a few little love notes from my recent gypsy travels...

{passion} vive le cinéma

this afternoon i went to a small local movie theater for a rendezvous with the cinema.

i had the entire theater to myself (!) and spent a delightful ninety minutes being whisked away to paris...

it was a marvelous way to add some magical mojo to my percolating paris dream.

(did you know that your innkeeper has a lifelong dream of going to paris? c'est vrai.)

this flick was a perfect recipe of film for me: a soul-seeking artist on a magical fantasy adventure through the world of literature and art.

i smiled throughout the film and loaded up my phone with voice notes and typed lists of inspiration.

an artist date like this is one way that i am fanning the flames of vitality: nurturing a dream.

and i am dreaming of paris...

as is sometimes the case in the life of an artist, i am currently navigating the exhilarating highs and deep dark lows of being a sensitive soul.

when i am murking around in the muck of existential angst, i focus on little acts of love for myself.

like going roller skating...

i spent the weekend zipping all over san francisco, my gypsy soul visiting urban tribe members, adventuring through street fairs and coffee shops, tasting delicious food, and soaking in the visual splendor of my favorite city.

lodging was graciously provided by friends who still live in my former neighborhood. on saturday night, i took a walk and spent time photographing some of the radiant signs that glow and capture my heart...

yesterday, i visited my amazing cousin duncan...

duncan just graduated from college, embarked on world travels, and has now returned to take a powerful journey across the country via a solar-powered veggie oil bus...

{the self express}

he is part of a group of incredible young artists and thinkers who purchased and converted the bus in june. they describe themselves as:

* transportation to a sustainable future
* a grass-roots vehicle for creativity and change
* exploring solutions to the environmental and social problems we face

the self express came to my little town yesterday and spent the morning at the farmer's market sharing their gifts, making music, and connecting with the community here.

i was absolutely enthralled with the beauty and intention of this creation...

the joy, excitement, and pride i feel about this project could make me explode.

my gypsy soul sings, my artist heart rejoices, my earth mama mind spins wildly.

what a valuable vision to create. such wonderful work, my friends!

gypsy trip

i spent the last two days in san francisco visiting a few members of my beloved urban tribe.

a few highlights:

• hand-delivering valentines to friends
• eating delicious pad see ew at thai castro
• getting a haircut at my favorite salon jubilee
• sipping a double macchiato with my veggie croissant at la boulange de cole
• taking a trip to the mind-blowing art supply store flax
