wings in motion: sculptor bryan tedrick

i saw and loved this breathtaking piece at burning man in 2008...

then, at burning man 2009 i decided that this was my favorite piece on the playa...

Sun and the Portal of Evolution

i was unaware that both pieces were created by the same artist.

i also had no idea that the artist lives right here in sonoma county.

when i visited iron horse vineyards last week, i noticed a metal sculpture on the gourmet food truck which was parked at the winery for the day...

later, i visited their website and discovered that the sculpture was created by burning man artist bryan tedrick...

this is when all of the pieces of the puzzle came together.

on a recent drive to napa through sonoma, i had noticed that the spread eagle sculpture currently lives in front of kenwood restaurant. it's breathtaking, swaying in the breeze and set against the backdrop of the sonoma landscape...

now that i have put it all together, it is such a thrill to know that this supremely talented artist lives right here in my favorite place on earth.

bryan's pieces are earthy, kinesthetic, moving, majestic energy.

i adore, build, and collect imagery of wings - so i particularly love the two pieces up above.

wishing you a wing-spreading wonder-filled weekend!

Bryan is so talented and such a nice man. We were privileged to camp with him in 2009 (know somebody who knows somebody who knows him) and were allowed to watch The Burn perched on the Portal...magic! Can't wait to see what he comes up with this year.

Hope you're having a gorgeous weekend!!

p.s. Do you still attend Burning Man? I was going to go a couple of years ago, and couldn't make it at the last minute. I'm still toying with the idea of going one of these times.
