laguna de santa rosa

as i mentioned yesterday, my urban tribe visited this weekend.

one of my tribe members, lance, is a photographer. we took our cameras and went for an adventure on sunday morning at the edge of the laguna de santa rosa.

the laguna is one of the largest freshwater marshes in northern california. during heavy rains, this entire area fills with the floodwaters of the nearby russian river.

i drive by this exquisitely beautiful place every day on my way to school, but i am always in motion and without my camera.

last week when it rained, people were kayaking in the place where we stood and captured these photos...

These photos are just lovely. I like the gnarly tree.

cb...thanks for the photo love! the trash is indeed heartbreaking. i am drawn to it artistically in a 'koyaanisqatsi' kind of way.

(in case that's a weird vague reference...http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Koyaanisqatsi)

ashley...thank you! and i love that you used the word 'gnarly' - it's one of my favorites.
