foodstuff: cherry cherry boom boom

cherries.

they are everywhere!

succulent beautiful bright ruby fruit bursting with sweet flavor.

last summer, i used a basket of cherries to make a clafoutis.

here are the photos...

when i pulled it out of the oven, it was too dark for a photo and too delicious to behold.  thus, it got quickly devoured by my tribe of friends before i could capture it on film.

just so you can envision what it looked like, here is a picture of smitten kitchen's clafoutis...

if you like cherries and have never made a clafoutis, i wholeheartedly recommend it.  it's so easy and incredibly satisfying - like a puffy sweet vanilla creme brulee cake with warm cherries in it.  yowza!

do you have a favorite cherry dessert?

Oh my sasselfraz, that looks delicious (and I don't even like cherries)! I may be intensely jealous of your KitchenAid as well.

mouth=watering. i don't usually buy cherries because I can't eat them raw [they make my mouth super itchy :( ] i think a clafoutis is in my future tho :)

@heidi...i know, i love that! ha!!!

@sara...if you can eat cherry pie without the itchy mouth, then a clafoutis is a must for you!
