{opening} my studio at the treehouse

during any other week, i teach drama during the day and create visual art at night.

this week, however, is special.

this week is spring break.

my schedule is altered for the next seven days.

as a result of this shift, i have been in my studio all morning and am completely blissed out...

{treehouse studio: loft with a slanted window}

{my view: apple orchards + vineyards + hills + sky}

{my favorite mug: seattle artist orna}

i have daydreamed about photographing and sharing my studio for a long time, but my perfectionist kept getting in the way.

today i decided to move through that and just do it.

i am sending a big thank you to my friend beka at ginger*urchin for recently asking me to show this space. i needed the encouragement and i appreciate it.

although part of me is a flashy showboat, another part of me is a shy flower.

the dew drop inn is a place where i'm committed to sharing both of these experiences with you.

this quote from author may sarton (via sabrina ward harrison in spilling open) inspires me to do so:

how one lives as a private person
is intimately bound into the work.
at some point i believe
one has to stop holding back
for fear of alienating
some imaginary reader
or real relative
or friend,
and come out with personal truth.

if we are to understand the human condition,
and if we are to accept ourselves
in all the complexity, self-doubt,
extravagance of feeling, guilt, joy,
the slow freeing of the self
to its full capacity for action and creation
both as human being and as artist,
we have to know all we can about each other
and we have to be willing to go naked.

You're space is so beautiful. I love your view...magical. You have inspired me to share my little room. I'll have to clean it up a bit first.
hugs,
Kitty
p.s. I can't wait to see Mary and Max. Daniel and I are going to watch it this weekend. Thanks for the heads up. It looks super cute.

I love your view - so very English with rolling hills and all those trees :) You have a nice little nook in your treetop retreat - quite the opposite from me in my basement space *grin* And that mug is gorgeous in all its handmade deliciousness! Thanks for sharing - do I have to show mine now?

Why you must share a photo of those beautifully organized bins next to your desk! I love seeing how artists arrange their things. Will you do a part 2 on organization? I know it's one of your hobbies...
